Porn - What are you looking at?

Read today that the porn industry is shut down because of an HIV scare. Some are people are blaming the government, others are blaming the companies who do the shoots. Still others are blaming the people who are the actors/performers in the porn industry.

The sad fact is that HIV is a reality of life and unless you are careful about who your sexual partners are you too can get a sexually transmitted disease. STD's aren't sexy or fun to talk about. They take you out of the moment and put you in a place you don't want to be.

Would it be better in the porn industry to use condoms? When you are getting all hot and bothered, ready to go at it with another person do you get miffed if they stop and put on a condom? I know some people get angry when the condom in erotic literature is obtrusive, but in literature and fiction movies you can have your character sleep around, boinking anything that moves and it's not a problem because no one is actually having sex.

In box office hits the mega stars who have sex on the big screen aren't actually inserting any parts into anyone else. The film is cut to look like they are doing it, but they aren't. In porn shoots, they are having sex and putting themselves at risk because they aren't wearing a condom.

In erotic literature it doesn't really matter if a person uses a condom or not. Many authors force their characters to use a condom, but sometimes the editor want's the condom gone. If you're writing fantasy or scifi, like my Princess series, then  the use of the condom is a mute point. You can make up rules about STD's and their transmission to non humans. In real life you don't get the option of making up rules.

Ultimately it is up to each individual, except in cases of rape, to use a condom or not use a condom. The porn stars don't have to be porn stars. I'm sure they have enough intelligence to work in another industry. They have made a choice to have sex for a living. And as far as work goes, there are worse ways to earn a paycheck, but it is a choice they made. Many of the stars would probably feel more comfortable using a condom but the production companies don't let them. What's the performer to do to earn a paycheck? It's one of those work safety issues that when you argue with your employer you lose your job.

If you worked in a paint spraying industry you would expect to wear protection on your face to protect your lungs. If you employer refused to let you wear a face mask you would have grounds to turn that employer in to the authorities and get the government on your side. Do you feel that if you hired a company knowing that they required their employes to use dangerous tactics to get the job done you would be as much at fault because you encouraged the dangerous activity by payment? My answer is that you would be acting negligent.

If you are going to watch porn then don't watch porn that doesn't require their performers to use condoms. Of course the believed general attitude of porn viewers is that they are a bunch of heartless jerks who could care less about the performers. If that's the case for you then maybe you need to seek counseling. Don't be a jerk, instead, be a part of the change. The porn industry will go away if all the performers die of AIDS. Demand that porn stars use condoms and don't purchase porn that doesn't include condom use.

All night long he'd wondered if Marie had worn panties and now he knew that she wore none. The elevator offered no privacy, but privacy was overrated. Marie moaned as she rubbed her belly against his crotch. This girl was smoking hot and ready for sex. The elevator stopped and the door slid open, revealing his wife, Ann.
"I saw you were on the way up," Ann said.
He looked over Marie's shoulder at his wife, not at all surprised to see her dressed only in panties and bra.
"You two going to join me?" Ann crooked her finger beckoning them to follow.

Shelley Munro and Lone Wolf

Hello, and thanks to Sara for having me to visit today. Sara asked me to talk about how my characters relate to my life experience. It’s a question writers often hear. This is usually how it goes…
“You’re a writer?” Lengthy pause. “So, do you do those things you write about in your books?”
When I attend a social event and meet new people, the conversation inevitably turns to occupations. Like the Where do you live? question, the subject of occupations is a getting-to-know-you topic—one that breaks the ice. For me, this is where the conversation turns sticky because I write erotic romance. Depending on the people or the occasion, I might tell them I’m a writer. I might add that I write romance and leave it at that. Sometimes I’ll spill the truth, which after the initial pause in the conversation, leads to lots of grins and smartass comments.
Writing and the writing process fascinates people. I receive questions about publishers and books, then the next question is usually about research. They want to know if I have experience with the things my characters do during the course of my stories.
Well, no. I have a great imagination.
I mean, they wouldn’t ask a mystery/murder writer if they’d killed someone in the name of research, would they? It’s the sexual part of romance writing that causes the most curiosity. The questions always make me smile, and I’ve developed stock answers depending on the situation. If in doubt, I smile mysteriously. Other times I’ll say I have a very interesting time researching. The truth is I do have an excellent imagination, and I’m good with Google. I’m also a dab hand with the library catalogue.
Now if people ask me about the general stuff—maybe the setting or the characterization then I’d definitely have to say that life provides lots of great inspiration. I’ve set several of my stories in places I’ve visited such as Fiji, India, Australia, Britain and Samoa. And of course my visit to Yellowstone National Park provided the spark that ended up as Lone Wolf.
During our Yellowstone visit, my husband and I stayed in cabins at Tower-Roosevelt. We drove around the park, saw lots of animals including bison, pronghorn, elk, a grizzly bear and lots of birds. We took loads of photos and stopped at numerous viewpoints and thermal spots. One lasting memory was waking up and hearing wolves howling. I was very disappointed we didn’t see any wolves, but we certainly heard them. It was magical. Much of our visit and my experiences at Yellowstone found its way into Lone Wolf.
The truth is there’s a small part of me and my life experiences that bleeds into each book, no matter what the setting or theme, and I think this is the same with most writers. Life colors our perceptions and the way we look at things, and this part of us shows in hundreds of ways such as word choice, characterization, setting and sometimes the type of plot.
So, my answer to the question—do my characters have any relation to my life experiences? Yes and no.
What questions would you ask on meeting a writer at a party? You never know, I might actually give you an answer!

Blurb: Lone Wolf
When you fall out of step, that’s when everything falls into place.
R.J. Blake begins a new session tutoring young werewolves in the old ways—before the introduction of the shift-suppressing drugs that allow their kind to live secretly among humans. He expects nothing out of the ordinary. Until sexy, smart, aggravating-as-hell Corey Wilson arrives. Older than the others, son of a powerful Los Angeles pack leader, Corey is an instant temptation he cannot afford.
The last thing Corey wants is three months stuck in the Yellowstone wilderness, followed by the stifling life his father has all mapped out for him. One glimpse of R.J., though, sparks a determination to seduce the older man before he leaves. Yet as R.J. guides him through the sometimes terrifying process of rediscovering his heritage, a deepening respect calls to his artistic soul and fuels a burst of creativity.
When their time comes to an end, Corey senses hesitation behind R.J.’s insistence that theirs was simply a summer fling. Inspiring him to take a leap of faith with consequences neither of them saw coming. A dangerous plot that reaches from the heart of their love to the highest office in the land…
Product Warnings
This book contains a young werewolf intent on seduction, an older werewolf determined to resist said seduction, werewolf politics and brutality, a little spilled blood, and hot, naked manlove in the great outdoors.

Excerpt-Lone Wolf by Shelley Munro
R.J. jerked his gaze away to focus on the two girls in the group. “What can you smell?”

The kids fell silent and tested the air with intent expressions on their young faces.

“The different plants,” one of the girls replied. “They have a strong scent, more pungent than the ones in the city park at home.”

“The dirt,” the other girl said.

Teague grinned in triumph. “Animal droppings.”

“Perfume,” Corey said.

“I can hear people,” Scott said, after they’d taken stock of their surroundings again. “Arguing.”

R.J. nodded in approval. “A family group is heading down the trail toward us.” He’d no sooner finished his sentence than four people—two adults plus two children—came into view on the track ahead of them. All were dressed casually in shorts and T-shirts, and footwear unsuitable for tackling the terrain. Their faces were flushed red with exertion. Sweat shone on their brows. R.J. stood back for them to pass. “Did you see anything interesting on the trail?”

“Nothing,” the father said in disgust. “Not a single animal. What a waste of an hour.” They continued past, talking in loud voices, a wave of chemical perfume wafting in their wake.

R.J. waited until they’d disappeared into their campervan. “They didn’t catch a glimpse of any wildlife because they spoke in loud voices, and you might have noticed their scent. Any sensible animal hid the instant they sensed them. If you want to see animals, you must move silently and blend with the surroundings. The same is true when you’re in wolf form. If I’m hunting, I’ll sometimes roll on the grass or rub up against the bushes to disguise my scent.” His gaze slid to Corey. “Corey, if you start to feel strange I want you to tell me immediately. Stopping the suppression drugs abruptly can mess with you.

“We’re going to take the trail to the summit of this peak and we’ll take a break there for our lunch. It’s not a race. We’ll pace ourselves and will stop regularly. Questions?” He noted their anticipation with approval. Succumbing to Yellowstone’s charms didn’t take long, and the transformation never failed to give him a sense of satisfaction.

Six Sentence Sunday - Working It Out

Lance moved his hands, massaging the stress from Jake’s lower back. Jake’s dick grew hard.
“I promise I’m not trying to come on to you today, but your glutes need some relaxation.” Lance rubbed at Jake’s waistlne, pressing on knots and finding the sore spots. His fingers worked magic, relieving tension Jake hadn’t noticed.
Time slid by as Jake drifted in and out of his thoughts. Lance’s hands had roved all over Jake’s body, giving him relief he hadn’t known he needed.
Lance rested his palm on Jake’s shoulder, indicating that the massage was over.

Six Sentence Sunday - Working It Out

The opening lines from Working It Out

Jake Grant dropped the eighty-pound weight to the floor, hid his face in his hands and cried. The gym was closed, had been for hours and that was the only reason he let the tears flow.

Six months had passed since Mark had been killed. The insurance company had settled early, and the money sat in an account he didn’t want to think about. The huge Victorian house they had bought together in downtown New Bern and refinished had sold last month.

All that was left for him in North Carolina was the gym.

Tuesday Tales -Deck's Story

My friend Jean Joachim started this. Each week, she provides a prompt and we write a story based on that.
This week’s prompt is Travel Agent. Deck is a small character from Smooth Lies, based on this story he may just get his own book.

Deck sat in the coffee shop across from the travel agency. The girl working the phones wasn't the main travel agent, only the agent's assistant. She knew too much to be a normal assistant though.

Five weeks ago she'd received a package from Egypt. He'd bet money she was the terrorists’ contact, not the travel agent. Sadly she didn't look the part of femme fatale. Frumpy know it all was more like it.

"Want more coffee?" The cute cashier with the brunette hair came up behind him and placed a hand on his shoulder.

Deck jumped, totally taken by surprise. The girl was shy. On more than one occasion he'd caught her staring at him then suddenly turn pink and slip into the back of the shop.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. You want any more coffee?"

"No, I'm a bit too jumpy. I should probably lay off the stuff."

She sat down in the chair across from him, her smile bright. Maybe she was working with the lady from the agency? Could she be here to distract him?

Deck focused on the girl. Cute smile, kind eyes and an honest face. Had he read her right or did her beauty beguile him. She was the kind of woman he could get used to being with. But was she a distraction meant to harm him, or did she want to get to know him?

"Every day this week you come here and sit in this seat. So why?"

"I guess I just like the view."

"The view?" The girl cocked her head to the side and smiled.

Deck's heart stalled then kick started. The girl was more than cute. She was beautiful. He wanted to spend time with her, but her timing was terrible. Here he was in New York as a businessman with worn out business contacts and down on his luck. He didn't want to start a relationship based on a lie. Relationships were hard enough without basing them on lies.

"I'm in town on business but some of my meetings were canceled."

"Oh no. That's awful."

"Yeah, but break gives me time to sit here and watch the view."

"You've been staring at that travel agency all week. Thinking about taking a trip?"

Deck looked across the street to the agency. The receptionist had a new client at her desk.

Damn, he'd taken his eyes off the place and now someone had made their way into the office with the receptionist. He couldn't get a good look at the man sitting across from the receptionist. And now this girl, he didn't even know her name, was distracting him.

A package was exchanged and the receptionist glanced around nervously. Why was she nervous? All week long she's sat there with no packages exchanged. Now some guy comes in and gives her something. The guy stood up. Shit, he was the guy they'd been hunting for months. The hair was different, but Deck knew.

Deck flipped open his phone and pressed two on his speed dial. When the phone answered he spoke only one word.

"Now."

Deck jumped up and grabbed the girl and pulled her into a kiss, his eyes focused on the travel agency across the street. His partner on this mission, Cane, stepped into the travel agency.

Deck saw Cane go for his gun. He twisted around, forcing the girl to the ground and planting her face down on the pavement. Before saying anything to her he jumped up and dashed across the street. Two blast of gunfire made the other people run away from the area, but he plowed forward, hitting the door and bursting in with guns drawn.

But Cane had already taken care of the terrorist and the receptionist. The bomb lay in a bag at Cane's feet.

Deck looked back across the street and saw the coffee girl climbing to her knees first then attempting to stand. Damn, was she a part of this too?

He raced back across the street and grabbed her. She screamed and fought his hold.

"Were you a part of that?" He whispered in her ear.

"Part of what?"

"You didn't show up on any intelligence."

"I don't know what you're talking about." Her eyes were full of fear and tears spilled down her face.

Deck pulled her into his arms and dragged her into the back of the coffee shop. He dragged her out to the van waiting at the back of the shop for him.

"What is you name?" Deck said.

"What?"

"Your name."

"Amy Broden."

Deck looked over his shoulder at the guys manning the computers. "Well?"

The two guys typed furiously, gazing over the information on the screen.

"Tell me."

One of the techies looked over his shoulder. "No, nothing."

"She doesn't show up on any of our intelligence?"

The techie shrugged. "No."

"Take her picture, run it against our face recognition program."

Deck held Amy's hands, keeping her beside him on the small bench seat at the back of the van. This girl might be an operative, but he doubted it. Five minutes went past with no one speaking. The techies did their thing and Amy kept quite. What did he expect, he'd kissed her on false pretenses, but they could have been real reasons for that kiss given a different set of circumstances.

The tech guy looked over his should. "She's clear."

Amy sighed and stood up. "I'm leaving."

"I need some information."

"Why don't you just take my blood, get my DNA, it'll be easier for you to hunt me down next time."

She opened the door and hoped out of the back of the van. Deck watched her walk away, knowing there would never be another kiss from Amy for him.

He shut the van door and one of the techies cursed.

"What, what's wrong?" Deck asked.

"There was a match, but only seventy-five percent correct. See the hair is different. That Amy girl was one of them."

Deck burst out the back of the van, searching for the Amy, but she was nowhere to be found. Damn, he couldn't believe he let her slip through his fingers. Next time he would be ready for her and he would take her down.

Snog Sunday

This Sunday I decided to expand my lines from six to include a Snog. This is from Smooth Lies, a book by Sara Thacker which is me too. I hope you enjoy the snog (uh-um...kiss for those of you in America)

The softness of his lips on her cheek took her breath away. His fingers traced an erotic pattern on her back, lulling her into a trancelike state where she only wanted one thing.
The hard packed muscles of his thighs pushed between hers, and she spread her legs willingly, letting him pull her close. Jake laid his cheek against her head, his breath tickling her neck. A sharp rock prodded her backside and she shifted, moving Jake’s head closer to her lips. She sought out comfort by kissing the smooth skin of his forehead. His fingers caressed her breast through her shirt and another bout of longing filled her center. She wanted him again but it would be stupid to make love here.
“We should stop this before someone comes back.” But she didn’t want to stop. This was how she and Jake always handled problems and right now they had a freaking huge problem.
“I can handle this and I don’t think we have to worry about those two again.” Jake’s hand reached down and grabbed her butt, squeezing her hips against his.
Sophia felt his hardness grow. Moving her hips against him, she sank into his embrace, letting the darkness cloak the hesitation she felt. How could she let this be the only place they really connected? Not the cave, but sex. Their relationship was shallow and something had to change.
Jake felt her tense then relax into his embrace. The darkness shielded him, keeping her from seeing the real him. He wanted to tell Sophia about the screw twisting in his gut since waking up half dead in Romania. The physical strength for a mission like this wasn’t there. He was about to crash and crash hard. Losing this mission would mean certain death for her and many others. God, even the President was at risk if the wrong people got their hands on the device.
Jake stroked Sophia’s damp hair, loving the way it tangled in his fingers, holding his hand captive. He sought out her lips, and kissed her long and deep. She mumbled something but there was another noise. His head shot up. It sounded again, pulling him away from Sophia.
