Flash Fiction Friday #6

Welcome to Flash Fiction Friday where me and a few other authors do our best to entertain the heck out of you with 100 words or less. I hope you enjoy my twisted tale and check out the other Flashers here.

James had waited months to get Anna here. Long hours sitting across the boardroom from her had left him aching for release. But she was his boss.
"That's it baby, pull off my pants."
"I want to touch you."
He shook his head then remembered the blindfold. "No, not yet."
She tugged at his waistband, slowly revealing his hard length. Her hot breath tickled his belly and his balls grew tight.
“Awe, that’s it darling.”
“Please, let me lick.”
“Uh-uh. I’m boss here. Do what I say and I’ll reward you.”
Anna bit her lip and her cheeks turned pink.

Remember to check out the other Flashers.

Back from Vacation

We just got back from our family beach vacation and boy was it fun. We actually went on a cruise to go to the beach. We spent two wonderful days on the beach and two at sea. All in all it was a lovely vacation. Here's the ship docked on the island. My daughter and I did the water trikes and snorkeled in this lagoon. At one point a huge storm blew in, obscuring the ship from our view, and we had to run for shelter. The rain only lasted a short while and we were all dressed for the beach so it didn't matter how wet we got. Then it was back to the beach for us.

We rode bicycles to a lookout station a few miles from the main beach. This shot is from the two-story lookout tower. The island is full of mangroves and yellow land crabs. The heat wasn't too much, mainly because it rained on us while we were there.

I didn't take any work with me. It was very relaxing to not have my computer waiting for me to type. I will say that the scenery was very inspiring and if I take another writing weekend like I did last January I'll be spending it at the beach, maybe even in the Bahamas.

On October 3rd the Claw Marks anthology comes out. I hope you enjoy my story, Carnal Awakenings.

Sunday Six - Claw Marks - Carnal Awakenings

Here's a little pitch from my story in the Claw Marks Anthology. Carnal Awakenings is a very sexy story about Anna who wants more from life and finds it with two men.

Anna stopped pacing in front of the two men. “I’m a little nervous.”
“Don’t be,” Nick said as he took her in his arms and held her.
His hug comforted her and she leaned in, accepting the reassurance he offered. Mike walked around them, watching them but not touching.
Nick stroked her back, eventually running his fingers across her ass. She wiggled, grazing his stiff cock hidden by his clothes. Remembering the salty taste of his cock made her burn for another lick.
Nick eased out of her arms and into Mike’s. She’d never seen two men kiss before in person. Her breath grew shallow as her body tingled. Mike pulled Nick’s shirt off, exposing a chest dusted with dark hair. Nick’s abs were tight but not perfectly sculpted.

Claw Marks will be available beginning October 3rd from Rebel Ink Press.

Jeff gave Mike a dirty look that didn't even communicate fully the anger he felt.
"Untie me now."
"Hardly, you were flirting with Nick."
"No way. Nick isn't even cute."
"Then why the hell did I see your hand on his ass?" Mike yelled.
"It was an accident."
"Well mister accidental ass grab, I'm going to teach you a lesson about touching."
"Untie me and we can work this out."
"Oh hell no. You think you can boss me around? This is payback baby."
"You're kidding me."
"I've been taking BDSM classes from the Wolf."
Jeff's heart stalled. "Not the Wolf."

Six Sunday - Surprise Sleepover

Enjoy this quick little read - Snowed in turns super hot when James and Nick spend the night downtown.

Nick stared out of the fifteenth floor window of the Hayson building in downtown Dallas. His plane to Cancún was scheduled to leave in the morning, but based on the ice falling from the sky nothing would be taking off or landing at the airport. He’d called the airlines again and still got the same answer. He guessed he would keep calling until they cancelled, or it was so close to flight time he would try to make his way to the airport.

"When we get back to civilization do you think they'll believe we didn't fight the entire time?" Marian asked.

Blake stared at his ex-enemy's lush body and sighed. "I don't give a shit what they think."

"It's been ten days, you think the rescue boat will show up soon?"

"The signal fire's out now. Maybe after the rain ends we can build another."

Marian took Blake by the hand, "Want to go have some fun?"

"I thought you would never ask."

The Gladiator Prince

I want to welcome Minnette Meador to my blog today. I hope you enjoy her books and this interview.

The Gladiator Prince

Prince Thane is the last surviving royalty of the Trinovantes Tribe in Roman Britannia, having surrendered to the Romans to save his two young daughters, whose identities he sacrifices his freedom to protect. He is condemned by Nero himself to become a gladiator, to fight until he dies in the arena. When his two daughters are taken in a slaver's raid, Thane escapes to find them.

Phaedra holds a terrible secret that would mean the death of her younger brother. Her only hope is to force the gladiator to protect them as they flee to Rome. He reluctantly agrees. Little does he know that the beautiful Syrian woman holds not only the key to his passion, but a secret that triggers a disaster that ignites the world. Will this spoiled willful girl betray him in the end or sacrifice herself to save them all?

1.     Tell us about your books.
I have several books published in epic fantasy, historical romance, paranormal romantic comedy, children’s books, and an urban fantasy coming out in October. For a complete list with excerpts and blurbs, visit: http://minnettemeador.blogspot.com/p/books-by-minnette.html

2.     What inspired you to write The Gladiator Prince?
Thane is a minor character in The Edge of Honor who helps Delia escape slavers who capture her while she’s trying to save Marius from the arena. He was such an amazing character I had to write about him. It just took off after that.

3.     What’s the story behind The Centurion and the Queen.
One wonderful Saturday, my DH was off to work and I was home watching the History Channel. An amazing documentary came on called Boudicca: The Warrior Queen. I was hooked from the first scene. I was starting a writing class and was going to work on my fantasy Starsight, but it had just sold, so I asked my teacher which story she wanted me to work on; a ghost story or a historical romance. She picked the romance and things just took off from there. Marius and Delia are roughly based off my mother and father.

4.     What are you working on right now?
I am getting ready for my urban fantasy thriller being release on October 26th, THE BELL STALKER. Here’s a blurb:

THE BELL STALKER - Excerpt
an urban fantasy thriller
by Minnette Meador
RELEASE DATE: October 26, 2011
Resplendence Publishing

For a year, Belle Stark has struggled to conquer fears plaguing her since being attacked by a maniac who continues to roam free and the murder of her father. And she nearly succeeds, until she discovers her lover's murdered body spread over the furniture, making Belle a prime suspect. Certain her attacker is to blame, she is forced to seek help from her ex-husband, homicide detective Mike Cranston, the one person she swore she would never let back into her life, or heart. In their hunt for answers, the two uncover more than a lunatic: a supernatural underworld hidden beneath the tall skyscrapers of the city and a secret that could kill them both. Faced with a terrible choice, Belle surrenders herself to the hands of a monster and Mike must solve an ancient mystery before it's too late to save her---
5. Where is your favorite place to write? My office, though I write in bed quite a bit too, especially in the summer (we have an air conditioner in our bedroom).

6. Who would you most like to write a book with if you could choose anyone in the world? Mark Twain

7. Do you have a writing schedule or do you just go with the flow? I’m a marathon writer, which means I don’t write all the time, but when I do I write 10K-20K in a sitting. For some reason that has always worked for me. I love to take 2-3 days to shut out the rest of the world and get everything down. I’m a very fast writer, I guess, so that helps.

8. What do you like most about writing? Creating the story and writing “The End.”

9. Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work? I have many favorites and what pulls me into their work is fast-paced, simple writing that gets to the point and moves you from page to page without stopping. I like beautifully written pieces, but if it doesn’t move, I lose interest quickly.

10. What is the biggest challenge you have faced as a writer? Finding time. I work full time, write full time, and promote full time, so it’s especially hard to get everything to balance for me.

11. What is the biggest challenge you have faced with a publisher? Both of my publishers are amazing and I don’t think I’ve ever had a complaint about either. They have always been there for me, been patient when I needed it and kicked me in the butt when I needed it too.

12. When did you first consider yourself a writer? When I penned my first Star Trek episode at age 8. Of course, it was completely plagiarized by Gene Roddenberry, but I don’t mind.

13. Where do you get your ideas for your books? The Gladiator Prince came from a character out of The Edge of Honor. I knew when I met him that the next book had to be about him. Ideas come from all over the place; A Ghost of a Chance came from a “what if” challenge (What if someone saw ghosts…. hundreds and hundreds of ghosts?); Starsight came from wondering how music could create magic; The Centurion & The Queen was sparked by a History Channel special on Boudicca; my children’s book from stories I used to tell my kids when they were young; The Bell Stalker from a challenge on Textnovel.com; Arpeggios in the Dark from The Ship Who Sang, by Ann McCaffrey. I never know when it’s going to hit me next and I’m very grateful it still does! :o)

Big Dicks From Arkansas

I want to welcome Sable Hunter on my blog today. I hope you enjoy her post.

Big Dicks From Arkansas
Now, don't go crazy on me.  It's not what you think - well, it is - but, it isn't.  You see this is one of my grandmother's saying.  She is 93 years old and when she was young, she heard someone talking about so-and-so being a 'big dick' from Arkansas.  She never forgot it.  Now, anytime she thinks about somebody being important - she calls him a big dick from Arkansas.
Well, I write erotic romances and have nine releases under my belt.  My grandmother reads them all.  The other day she asked me if all of my heroes had big dicks.  I laughed at her and admitted that 'yes' they did.  She looked at me over her spectacles and said that it was probably a good idea because who would want to read a romance novel about a man who had a little dick.
My grandmother critiques my stories and in the beginning she was not so happy about all the sex scenes.  She has mellowed out somewhat - even though the oral sex part is not her favorite.  My graphic descriptions of luscious blow-jobs is not her cup of tea.  But, let me tell you this.  Not long ago we went somewhere together.  At one point, it was too cold for her to get out of the car and I handed her a book to read to entertain herself.  Now, it wasn't one of mine.  I won't tell you whose it was - but it was on the New York Times best seller list.  I left her reading and went to do my errands.  When I came back, I found that she had tossed the book over on my side of the car and it was lying in the floor board.  I took that as a sign that she didn't like the book too much.  I asked her what the problem was - now, get this.  She said that it wasn't spicy enough for her.  I almost died.  This was the woman who had initially wanted me to write Christian romances.  I laughed at her and told her that she had been reading too many of my stories.  She said that I was probably right - that she liked - now get this - she liked stories with big dicks and happy endings. I laughed till i cried.  Big dicks and happy ending.  I told the woman who does my computer work about that and she said we ought to incorporate and call our company BD&HE - Big Dicks and Happy Endings.  Could anything be more perfect?  Now, my grandmother's definition of a happy ending is not the standard masseuse table definition.  She literally means that a 'happy ending' is a sweet love story that ends with the hero and heroine riding off into the sunset together.  One of my favorite Elvis songs is 'Happy Endings'.  I have always pictured myself speaking at a Romance Writers of America Convention on the topic of  - let's say 'big dicks and happy endings' and finishing the speech by breaking into song - - - singing about a story with a happy ending – when boy meets girl – they fall in love – never part – but live forever, happily.  If you don't know the song - you should - go buy an Itunes version.  There's no one and nothing like Elvis.
Anyway - my grandmother has a unique way of looking at things.  She's reading one of my books right now - I'm watching her read as she eats Doritios - she chuckles every once in a while and when she does, I know she's come to one of the big dick parts.
 Excerpt from T-R-O-U-B-L-E
“Are you going to seduce me, Cooper?”
“If you’ll let me.” It nearly killed him, but he sat still while she unbuttoned his shirt. He soon learned he had more endurance than he ever dreamed for as Cooper let loose each button; she kissed, licked, and nibbled her way down his chest. He clutched the cushion of the couch and closed his eyes as he endured the sweet torture. And she wasn’t finished. She opened his shirt wide and a glorious curtain of hair tickled his chest as she leaned over and tongued one of his nipples.
“Oh God, Cooper,” he groaned.
Ky helped her ease his blue jeans and underwear off. He lay down flat on his back and she scooted down between his legs. “Ky,” she breathed in wonderment. Taking him in her hands, she soothed her palm up and down his considerable length. Circling with her fist, she measured his girth. “You are so beautiful. And so big!”
And jumping up from the couch, she left him there.
“Hey! Come back here,” he laughed. “Where are you going?” She wasn’t gone but a second, and when she returned she sat down in the vee of his legs and held the pink dildo up to his dick to compare sizes.
“Ky, you are way bigger than this piece of junk. What is this thing, five inches?”
Ky snorted in derision. “I’ll have you know that plastic junk is seven inches and my junk is nine and a half.”
“And a half? We’ve measured closely, haven’t we?” Giggles erupted as she held the dildo next to Ky’s pride and joy. “And look how big around you are! Oh, baby! You are hung! What do I need this flimsy thing for?” She flung the dildo across the room, scaring the two dogs in the process, which in turn set off the tomcats. “Oops.”
“Look what you’ve done, baby.” This was the most fun Ky could ever remember having. Just a couple of days had passed and already she was a bigger part of his life than anyone else had ever thought about being.
Cooper ignored the animals. Looking deep into his eyes, she closed her hand around him. “You are so smooth and hard and warm. I’ve never felt anything like it.” She grasped him tightly and began pumping her hand up and down. “Am I doing it right, sweetie?” She had fell right into Ky’s sweet-talk habit and he loved it.
“There is no wrong way, love. But, yeah—that feel’s wonderful. You’ve never done this before?” He thought he knew the answer, but he wanted reassurance. The fact he was her first thrilled the life out of him. Now, all he had to work on was being the last.
Have a great day!

Six Sentence Sunday - Princess Slave

Will Princess Ava survive?

Dark, lifeless eyes stared up at Ava, condemning her to a fate worse than death. The twenty thousand Zebuluns in the stands surrounding her fell silent. Ava looked at the woman lying dead at her feet. The knife still protruded garishly from her side. Blood still flowed from the wound.
A week of eating drugged food, what little they had allowed her, and drinking tainted water left her weak, but the fight for her life had cleared some of the fog that puzzled her brain. Horror washed over her. She’d just killed another being.

Temporary Trouble with Paige Turner

Thank you to Sara York for inviting me to guest blog with her! I’m celebrating the release of my first erotic romance, Temporary Trouble, part of Total-E-Bound’s Tempting Temps collection.

Today I’d like to talk about judging a book by its cover. They say you shouldn’t – but “they” say a lot of things, some of them sensible and some of them silly, and in this case I think they’re wrong.

I’m an absolutely voracious reader, and I buy a lot of books. There are two rooms in my house entirely given over to books, and eventually my husband and my cat are going to have to go and live in the garden shed to make room for more books.

Horror, science fiction, fantasy, murder mysteries and literary fiction. Science and history. Books on crafting, books on cooking, books on criminal profiling. And, of course, erotic romance. I love books of all kinds.

I often buy stories by authors who are new to me, or in genres I haven’t explored before. So I need some way to decide what looks interesting and what doesn’t. That’s where the cover comes in. The chances are it will be the title and the cover art that first tempt me to pick up a book.

The second thing that catches my eye is the blurb. It gives me a better idea of what the story is about, and whether or not it’s likely to be my cup of tea. Am I in the mood for a brilliant but troubled detective? A series of grisly and baffling murders? Zooming through the stars at the speed of light fighting epic space battles? A multi-generational kitchen sink drama?

Only if the cover and blurb catch my interest do I open the book and skim a few lines to see whether the writer’s voice matches my taste or my mood. And so far this method has rarely let me down.

What influences your decisions when you’re shopping for reading material? Recommendations? Reviews? Do you read a bit of the book before you buy it, or would you rather be surprised? Do you only buy books by authors you’ve read and enjoyed before? Do you pick your reading material completely at random? Or do you, like me, judge a book by its cover?

Laura couldn’t believe her boyfriend had brought her here. She’d even worn matching underwear and what did it get her? A night with ten drunken frat boys who weren’t even hot. Laura had done the striptease down to her underwear then feigned an important call. Stupid college boys, she was done being a cougar. Next guy would be older and totally hot.
The doorknob started to turn as she looked back over her shoulder. Hell, these guys were crazy. Laura jumped to the grass below and sprinted to the street, not caring who saw her.

I want to give a very special thanks to thank Laura Harner, author of Ty Hard and Highland Shift, for being my guest star on Flash Fiction Friday. She's such a good sport for being in my post today. Check out her books on Amazon.

Is Erotic Romance Harming Your Marriage

I brought this to my blog from Sensual n Secrets, mainly because I didn't want it to get lost - Hope you enjoy the post.

Focus on the family is warning women of Emo-Porn which is not actually pornographic at all but simply soap operas and romance novels which create unrealistic images of attentive and loving husbands:
Loneliness strikes at the heart of both husbands and wives, but tends to plunge deeper into the emotional expanse of women. This is one reason why wives are seduced by “emo-porn,” virtual infidelity that is more emotionally satisfying before it physically pleases. But like salt water, it creates a worsening thirst. With emo-porn, fantasy men perform stunningly between the sheets of conversation, emotional understanding, and emotional dexterity. Most mortal men cannot deliver such behavior, the way men do in soap operas and romance novels. Just as wives rightly complain when compared to the artificially created women of Internet porn, men should complain when compared to the artificial men of daytime television. Interesting, isn’t it, how they have such exciting jobs—no Joe The Plumbers. In the real world where real men burn through a lot of emotional battery life to make a real living, being expected to behave like men who don’t exist is more than wrong. It’s cruel.
Emo-porn creates caricatures in the minds and hearts of wives. Most men just aren’t and cannot be that attentive, especially in marriage where responsibilities to provide weigh heavy upon them. Husbands are quietly deemed unresponsive and uncaring when compared to emotionally dexterous hunks of daytime lore, chat rooms, celebrity rags, and romance novels. Thus a secretive and snowballing form of marital discontent is born and nurtured.
But worse is what they are suggesting. That it's okay for men to come home and be unresponsive and uncaring. Since when is it okay for men to come home for work and ignore their family. What part of being a family does that include. Both men and women have responsibilities. Men are not any more emotionally drained at the end of the day then women. Life is hard no matter your sex.

You can live in the "life is hard" land of excuses or focus on what's really the problem. Do you need medication for depression? Are you sick? Do you need to change jobs or maybe you need to stop focusing so much on yourself. Growing up, my father paid no attention to us kids. Sure, he had to go off to work, but he never built a relationship with us. Building a relationship with your family is more important than anything else.

I don't think I've ever made it a secret that I'm a Christian. I read the bible almost every day. I've studied Martin Luther's commentaries and done so many bible studies I have a box full of old workbooks and then a bookshelf full of them too. So with all of that bible studying and reading I have a basic understanding of what the bible says. No where in the bible does it say it's okay to act like modern man does, coming home from work and ignoring his family, putting his desires first and treating his wife like she's a second class citizen. Women know the difference between fiction and reality. They can understand that it's not going to be perfect every day, but you push through and make a relationship work by paying attention to your spouse.

This part of this article is just an excuse for men to be jerks. Being a jerk is never cool. What is more important, building a life long relationship with your family or ignoring your family? I think Christian teachings like this are doing more damage to new Christians than helping. Idiots publish this pseudo-Christian "rules" junk and non-Christians get a very deranged view of what being a Christian is all about. Real women who have brains know that marriage is tough. I've been with my husband for 22 years this October. We've had our ups and down, but I would have to say that erotic romance has strengthened our marriage not made it worse. Unrealistic expectations are made not by fiction books and shows, but by fairy tales made popular in Christian circles that heap expectations upon people that they can never achieve.

There is nothing wrong with reading romance novels. It isn't going to ruin your life. If anything it can give you hope that your marriage can get better. Hope that you can find happiness. Don't succumb to the lies that men are allowed to ignore their family.

Speedtracer - Six Sentence Sunday

He crawled into the tent then poked his head out of the flap, his grin startling her. “You know, I won’t bite.”
The skin at the base of her neck tingled. She shook it off. Even though he was the most gorgeous man she’d seen in ages, he was still an ass, and she hated him. Anyway, he wasn’t interested in her, only the money and respect he’d receive for capturing Speedtracer Fifteen-Twenty.
